At Cig.Design, creating impact is at the core of everything we do. We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of cigarette waste by transforming it into innovative and eco-friendly products. By upcycling discarded cigarette butts into new materials, we give them a second life and prevent them from ending up in landfills or polluting our oceans.
Our sustainable approach extends beyond just our products. We strive to minimize our carbon footprint throughout our entire operation, from sourcing materials to manufacturing and distribution. We prioritize renewable energy sources, minimize waste generation, and implement responsible recycling practices.

Recycled Plastic
The tabletops are made from recycled plastic and are available in two different material options: light and dark plastic. Both types use cellulose acetate derived from cigarette filters.
Light Plastic: Cellulose acetate & Polypropylene (PP)
Dark Plastic: Cellulose acetate & Polystyrene (PS)
Bamboo
The table bases are made from bamboo.
Bamboo is a very sustainable material because it grows quickly, sometimes over a meter per day. Bamboo absorbs CO2 as it grows and releases oxygen during its production. Moreover, bamboo has a long lifespan, making it a green and durable choice for furniture.
Spreading the word
Cig.Design partners with various organizations to create furniture from waste streams.
One key collaboration is with Peukenzee, an initiative working with over 60 businesses across the Netherlands to fight cigarette litter.
Together, we raise awareness about the environmental impact of cigarette waste, while promoting a circular economy. Through collaboration, we transform this waste into innovative, sustainable designs, turning pollution into opportunity.
